I've been blogging here intermittently for about 14 years. I actually thought it was longer than that, but it seems to be 14 years since the first post that still exists. Maybe there were older posts that I deleted. I've only blogged very intermittently in recent years, but I do notice that the number of people who read my posts is fairly low. It could be that I'm just not blogging about anything remotely interesting to anyone else, or it could be that my blog is not really showing up in search engines. Anyway, I've been thinking that I ought to try to to blog more now that I'm semi-retired. As my blog has almost no traction at the moment, this is possibly also an opportunity to switch to a different platform. When I started out blogging, logger seemed the obvious option, however WordPress seems to be much more dominant now, and I already have WordPress running on one of my servers for Sarah's blog. Another advantage of WordPress is that I'd be able to add in my own extensions, which might be quite nice. Unfortunately I can't take the domain with me, so switching to WordPress also means losing any existing listings in search engines and directories, unless blogger allows users to set up 301 (permanently moved) responses.
I've not made a final decision yet, but I think it's likely that I will be making the switch. If anyone does read this post, it would be interesting to know what you think. Please post in the comments.
Blog about things that interest or affect me, which generally means education using technology and related software development, but also occasional posts on (miss)management or politics.

Thinking about switching blog
